A sunset dog excursion with three professional dog handlers!
Join us on our charming sunset hike with your dog in one of Italy's most beautiful villages: Santo Stefano di Sessanio, in the Abruzzo region, at the foot of the southern slopes of the Gran Sasso massif. We'll depart from the free parking lot just outside the town walls. The route winds along the SP7 Castel del Monte, gravel roads and dirt paths, with a short but steep climb that will give us spectacular views of the small villages below, the Gran Sasso with the southeastern peaks of Brancastello and Camicia, Mount Ocre, the Velino massif, and the Maiella. In front of us, the octagonal church of Santa Maria della Pietà , and behind us, the Rocca Calascio castle, a filming location for numerous films such as Lady Hawke and In the Name of the Rose.
After admiring the stunning sunset, we'll complete our loop in Val Pareta, where we'll admire fields of Santo Stefano lentils, a typical local product recognized as a Slow Food Presidium, along with potato cultivation. The characteristic flora of the Apennine mountains, such as elderberry, rose hips, and juniper, will accompany our journey.
We will be guided by Alessandra Laureano, a veterinarian with expertise in behavior and a CSEN dog trainer; Claudia Tomassini, a FICSS dog trainer and trainer, a CSEN trekking instructor, and a FICSS mobility technician; and Maurizio Bachetti, a LAGAP environmental hiking guide (license no. 889).
Please note that the walk will take place within a protected area, so dogs must be leashed throughout the route to minimize the impact on the delicate natural environment. Join us for an unforgettable experience with your four-legged friend! Treat yourself or someone else to this six-legged experience, to be enjoyed together, dog and owner.
