A pleasant, scenic hike along a historic trail will take us to the Hermitage of San Benedetto, an ancient rural church on the mountain of the same name, the scene of a tragic event during World War II. The easy route, with an elevation gain of about 400 meters, begins just above the village of Montebuono and follows an entirely dirt road.
After visiting the Sanctuary, we'll have a lunch break in a designated area (San Sebastiano), where I'll prepare a succulent barbecue with local produce: bruschetta with extra virgin olive oil, bruschetta with tomatoes, sausages, arrosticini, grilled radicchio, artisanal biscuits, and wine.
