With Your Dog In Search of the Hidden Cave!
The Petrienno Cave is a cavity approximately 60 meters wide and 15 meters deep, almost entirely hidden by trees and nestled in a narrow valley that is completely invisible from a distance. To access this magical place, you pass beneath a beautiful waterfall. Inside, you can see ancient stone buildings. These structures served as farms for herding animals, primarily sheep.
We depart from Tallacano, a small hamlet of Acquasanta Terme at an elevation of 660 meters, in the heart of the Apennines, characterized by 16th-century sandstone houses in the area known as the Lost Apennines. From here, a pleasant forest trail leads in about an hour to the Agore Waterfall, then to the Petrienno Waterfall and Cave. Before setting off, we can reach Sasso Spaccato, a deep cleft in the mountain, also known as "Tassinara" by the locals, evidence of an ancient place of worship. The initial route along the dirt road offers space for dogs to safely socialize. The excursions, designed with the well-being of the dog-handler duo in mind, may vary depending on the number of participants.
At the end of the 6-legged excursion, we will celebrate "Friends Sunday" together with a nice lunch together (not included in the dog trekking fee).
Treat yourself or the owner to a special day, to be spent together, dog and owner.
