In the green heart of the Central Apennines, just steps from the Adriatic beaches, the Monti Gemelli (Twin Mountains) rise in the Gran Sasso-Laga National Park. The poet D'Annunzio described them as "the great mountain, blue-green, ethereal, snow-covered, mingled with the shining clouds..." (Notturno, 1921). The southern peak, known as "the Mountain of Campli," offers a multifaceted natural landscape: wooded slopes, enchanting beech forests, gorges and waterfalls, and rock faces reminiscent of the Dolomites. The nearby Valle degli Scoiattoli (Scoiattoli Valley) is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts; we'll have a blast with our dog trekking.
We will go up the valley of glacial origin until we reach the foot of Mount Foltrone and then descend again, the route develops in the municipality of Campli (TE).
